George Benson Interview
By Leon in General Advice, Popular Jazz Guitarists - Audio
I recently came across an excellent interview recorded by KJZZ with George Benson. It’s about an hour long and he pretty much talks about everything – how he got started, what it was like playing with many of the greats (Wes Montgomery, Tal Farlow, etc…), and his newest record, a collaboration with Al Jareau. He’s a great storyteller. This is a must listen!

hi george i feel like i know you cause i’ve covered a few of your songs when i was on the road in the 70’s and 80’s , i really enjoyed playing them. i play a lot of classical guitar now but i have just recently discovered you on youtube and i am wanting to play some of your solos again, so i’m teaching them to my students, they love em. i’ve never seen them so excited, you know they ask me who is the best soloist and i tell them first there was charlie parker and then there is george benson.
